In the middle of Herrison Island is a lake. I was not sure if this was joined to the Swan River or not, but looking at the satellite view of Perth on the Google map shows a distinct lake. This panorama shows a view from the northern bank of the lake. In the middle of the lake are a couple of islands.

Heirisson Island has views over the Swan River back towards the city of Perth. It's a lovely, calming place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. It even has some unusual stunted trees amongst it's expansive parkland.
