The Beach from Lister Gardens - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
This is the beach at Lyme Regis viewed from Lister Gardens, a memorial to Dr Joseph Lister who pioneered antiseptic surgery. These gardens, together with the adjacent Langmore Gardens were completely re-made and re-planted during 2006 as part of a £20m coastal protection scheme. The long harbour wall which can be seen at the end of the beach is the famous Cobb which was used as a film location for the film French Lieutenant's Woman' and also the TV production of Jane Austen's 'Persuasion'

These gardens were redesigned as part of a coastal regeneration and slope stabilisation scheme. Acquired by the town in 1965, they separate the main town from the hamlet of Cobb. The marine parade runs along the seafront. Nearby the harbour area is often bustling with fishing boats and small yachts.
