The Grampians is a generic term used to describe the region in and around Grampians National Park are in the Victoria region of Australia, about 240km from Melbourne. The park is an area of outstanding natural beauty, and a good place for all sots of outdoor activities ranging from hiking and climbing, through to mountain biking, kayaking and other river sports. The were so named by Sir Thomas Mitchell in 1836 after the Grampian Mountains of his native Scotland. Places of interest include Halls Gap, Wartook Valley and Dunkeld.
Most tourists who visit the Grampians NP stay at Halls Gap, the largest service town in the area and has numerous hostels, hotels and camp sites. Halls Gap lies roughly half way between Ararat and Stawell on the eastern (Melbourne) side of the park. The park has numerous trails and walks, and among one of the highlights is a 5km trail to a lookout at The Pinnacles offering panoramic views over part of the park, and Paddy Castle.
Heading south from Hall's Gap, Pomonal village is near to the Zoo, a Winery and a Camel Tour center which offers guided tours by camel through the Grampians.

TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
From Melbourne (about 260km) take the M8 and then the A8 roads to Arartat and then the C222 Ararat Pomonal Road to the Grampians National Park. Other large towns near to the park are Hamilton and Horsham.
