Penneshaw is the main ferry port for Kangaroo Island with connections to Cape Jarvis. Penneshaw lies on the north-eastern coast, on Dudley peninsula and offers views back across the 18Km of Backstairs Passage over to the mainland.

As the busiest part of the island, there are plenty hotels, guest accommodations, shops, visitor services and guides. Guided tours of the native penguin colony depart from the picturesque marina here in the evenings, along with cruises around the island. Well served for camping and hostels, Penneshaw offers activities such as fishing, surfing, water-sports and kayaking at Hog Bay.
