Crescent Beach at Sooke Potholes - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
This panorama shows Crescent Beach in Sooke Potholes Regional Park. It was taken one spring afternoon, when the river is full, the water cold and there were not many people around. In th summer months it is very different as this is a very popular spot for bathing and walking. The picture shows both the pebble beach and the Sooke River.

Crescent Beach is a short walk from the car park in Sooke Potholes Regional Park. Though used by local people for many years, the are was officially established as a park in 2005. Since then numerous new walkways have been built, with new fencing and signage. In the summer this beach quickly fills up at the weekends and during the holidays. From here it is a short walk to the Sooke Potholes themselves, visible from the newly refurbished Sooke Potholes lookout.
During the summer months, the Sooke Potholes reputedly has some of the best swimming in the region. However, caution should always be taken, this is a natural river, and jumping off the cliffs into the deep pothole pools is not recommended, with injuries occurring yearly. The are numerous easy walks and hikes in the park, and the Galloping Goose trail runs through it. The park is full of wildlife, including deer, squirrels and the occasional cougar.
