Amphitrite Lighthouse - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
Panorama taken of the coastline at the Amphitrite Lighthouse. This is a rugged place at one end of the Wild Pacific Trail. Sea lions are often heard offshore here. The view extends over the Berkley Sound. This image was taken from the land side of the lighthouse where the path from the carpark opens up to a grassed area with benches near the lighthouse.
Amphitrite Lighthouse - FURTHER INFORMATION

Amphitrite Lighthouse stands on the southern end of the peninsula close to Ucluelet overlooking the Barkely Sound on Vancouver Island. Amphitrite was a sea deity in the Greek pantheon, the consort of Poseidon and taken as being symbolic of the sea.
The first lighthouse was built here in 1906, and ran using Wigham lamp which was managed by the lifeboatmen based at Ucluelet. This lighthouse was destroyed in 1914 by a storm wave and another light was erected at another point. Records show that in this required the lighthouse attendant making the trip out to the lighthouse to light the lamp at dusk, trim it at midnight and then return again at sunrise to put it out. A task performed in all weather conditions.
The current Amphitrite Lighthouse is an automated and unmanned station with fog horns. It stand on a rocky outcrop overlooking a rugged coastline. This is a popular part of the Wild Pacific Trail, and care must always be taken when exploring the rocky shoreline as the sea is unpredictable with rogue waves.
TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
