Chesterman Beach lies north of the Pacific Rim National park, close to Tofino on the west coast of Vancouver Island. This is a small beach when compared to the likes of Long Beach and Wickaninnish Beach nearby. The beach is separated by a sand spit from Cox Bay to the south. The spit is exposed at low tide allows the inhabitants of the private Frank Island land access to the mainland.
Popular with surfing and body boarding in the summer, Chesterman Beach makes for good storm watching during the summer months when 30 foot waves crash upon the beach and rocky headlands.
