The Palais Auersperg was acquired by prince Johann Adam Auersperg in 1777. It was built 50 years earlier for Hieronymus Capece de Rofrano and no expense was spared in the construction. Everything was to the highest standard and quality, to accompany the music to be played here. Thus it came to be described by Robert Stolz as "one of the most beautiful chords in the symphony 'Vienna' ". Many famous concerts have taken place here and in March of 1786 a private performance of the opera 'Idomeneo' by Mozart was staged here specially adapted for the abilities of the noble guests.
The Palais Auersperg located on Auerspergstrasse, so named in honour of Prince Adolf Auersperg, who was Prime Minister of Austria for eight years.
Palais Auersperg still houses a 300 seat concert hall, and is a lavish location for any concert. For information about events and concerts taking place please see the Palais Auersperg website.
