Arch Rock - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
This panorama shows the Arch Rock sandstone formation in Valley of Fire. The Arch Rock is the easiest sandstone arch to see in the park, as a gravel road drives directly past it. However, taking pictures from the road side gives more sandstone as a backdrop, and it is only by getting out and walking round that the nature of the arch is visible against the sky, as shown in this panoramic image.
Arch Rock - FURTHER INFORMATION
Arch Rock - Valley of Fire State Park visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Arch Rock' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Nevada.
Arch Rock is one of the billed sights of Valley of Fire State Park. It is close to the western entrance to the park. It is quite easy to miss, but stands north of The Beehives formations, close to Atl Atl Rock.
Desert sandstone arches such as this are formed by weathering processes, which is different to those caused by the action of water. The most famous sandstone arch within the park must be Elephant Rock near the eastern entrance, with the arch forming the elephant's trunk. Other sandstone arches are found scattered throughout the Valley of Fire, such as this sandstone arch found at White Domes, but require walking and exploring among the rocks.
