Wan Chai North Pier at Night - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
This panorama shows the view over Hong Kong Harbour from the Wan Chia North Pier, next to the Exhibition Center, at night. There is a good view from here to the illuminated buildings of Tsim Sha Tsui on Kowloon, and some of the skyscrapers of Hong Kong Central. The most dominant building in the picture is the international Conference Center itself.

Wan Chai waterfront on Hong Kong's north-western harbour shows-off its night-time illuminations. Wan Chai is a colourful area in every sense. Until recently it was such a notorious red-light dockland area that the authorities felt it necessary to heavily invest in regenerating parts this area.
Now its home to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center, Hong Kong Museum, Bauhinia Square, Causeway Bay shopping center, several notable Government buildings and popular internationally owned hotels. Further back from the waterfront, the area is still rustic and lacking investment, a typical urban residential area in this densely populated district. A safe area to explore the outdoor meat markets and side alley eateries by day, a lively nightlife bars and clubs area by night.
Noting that the prestigious investment projects co-existing alongside the relative poverty of the rest of the district, Wan Chai has been described as the place to find the finest and the lowliest of all that Hong Kong offers.
