Victoria Park Laughing Heads - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
There are very few open places in Hong Kong for people to enjoy and relax. Victoria Park is one such, and this panorama shows a podium in the park Next to it are two giant laughing head sculptures looking on a a couple of memorial cannons. The panorama was taken on an overcast day.

Victoria Park in Hong Kong is home to the spectacular Chinese New Year celebrations and flower market. With elaborate and extravagant floral displays, the event is simply unmissable if you can be here at the right time. Throughout the year, it is a restful park with a wide-open feel, spacious and airy and quite different to the closely packed together buildings which surround it.
The park was named for Queen Victoria in whose honour a statue was erected which still prominently grace the park. The statue was founded in London and thankfully it was restored to the park in 1952, after an attempt during WW2 to remove it and others to Japan for melting down for their constituent metals.
Often a focus for outdoor events and spontaneous gatherings, Victoria Park is both a relaxing visitor attraction and a very important central point in the daily lives of the local community.
