Panorama of the famous Thursday morning Farmer's Market in the ancient medieval town of Saint-Astier in the Dordogne. Well known throughout the region as producing the finest fruit, vegetables and herbs, the pride of the produce is sold here each week in this village marketplace.

A fascinating town to visit set in lush countryside, full of small castles, fortified churches and historic buildings. It's strong military history continues through to modern day as the home of the French National Training Centre of the Gendarmerie Forces.

17 miles west of Perigueux in Dordogne, take the E70 highway west to Bordeaux.
