The Tian Tan Buddha is the major tourist attraction on Lantau Island in Hong Kong. The Tian Tan Buddha is also known as the Big Buddha, and is the largest, seated, bronze, outdoor Buddha. Quite a specific claim. It is located next to the Po Lin Monastery, which received far fewer visitors than the statue itself.
There are 268 steps up to the Buhddha itself, offering an increasing view of the surrounding countryside. The 34m high Buddha sits on a massive pedestal at the top with it's right hand raised as a symbol for the removal of affliction.
