This panorama was taken just off the Great North Road that runs through Millfield. From here you get a good view over the base of the Hunter Valley to the hills far away in the south.

Millfield is a small village a little south of Cessnock in the Hunter Valley. The village sits in the most important wine growing regions of New South Wales, and possible the whole of Australia.
Most of the income for Millfield is focusses around the wine industry, either directly from the vineyards, or from the hotels, apartments and cabins that are rented out to visitors touring the region. Two of the local vineyards include Millfield Wines and Millbrook Estate.
Millfield Wines produces small quantities of fine wines from Shiraz, Semillon and Chardonnay grapes. Though not growing their grapes themselves, they source top grade fruit from small independent growers in the Hunter Valley.
Millbrook Estate grows it's own grapes on 6 and a half acres of vineyard, producing between 500 and 1000 cases of wine annually. Plantings at Millbrook are Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz. These grapes are complimented from selected vineyards of Hunter Valley Muscat, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Verdelho and Semillon. Millbrook Estate is part of the 'Wollombi Valley Wine Trail' and each year they host 'Sculpture in the Vineyards', which runs between October to November.
