Mangrove Creek Dam Overlook - FURTHER INFORMATION
Mangrove Creek Dam Overlook - Hunter Valley visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Mangrove Creek Dam Overlook' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from New South Wales.
The reservoir created by Mangrove Creek Dam provides water for the Central Coast residents of New South Wales in Australia. The dam is a popular day trip from Gosford and surrounding villages in the Hunter Valley, with areas for barbecues and picnics. Access to the reservoir itself is not permitted.
The dam wall is 80m high and the reservoir has a maximum capacity of 190,000 million liters, with a maximum depth of nearly 70m when full. As can be seen in this picture, the level of water at Mangrove Creek Dam is well below maximum levels. The dark stain on the water tower seen to the right of the dam itself shows the levels of the past. Currently the dam is below 25% capacity, and increasingly severe water restrictions are being enforced on the populace served. This part of Australia has had increasingly dry years over the past decades, which is posing increasing problems, not least of the wine growing industry in the Hunter Valley.
