The Albert Steet Unniting Church stands next to King George Square in Brisbane. The church was built in 1889, about 60 years after the founding of Brisbane itself. The church organ was made in Manchester in England and then transported round the world to the church here. It is brightly painted and has 2,250 pipes. The stained glass windows form collective groups that tell a story.
This is still a functioning and active church with regular Sunday services. The church is also open during the week for private meditation and prayer. Visitors must respect the church and building when visiting.
