Cathedral of St Stephen - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
A panorama taken from inside the Cathedral of St. Stephen in Brisbane. The inside of the cathedral shows the Gothic Revival architecture, with tall, pointed arches rising to a very high roof over the nave. There are stained glass windows, and colourful banners which hang over the nave. Above the sanctuary is an impressive organ.

The Cathedral of St. Stephen in Brisbane is a Catholic cathedral building, built between 1864 and 1922 in Gothic Revivalist style. Economic considerations forced numerous (downscaling) changes during the construction period. Tocay, as well as a place of worship, the Cathedral of St. Stephen has become a major attraction in Brisbane.
The Cathedral of St. Stephen underwent a major restoration project starting in the 1980's. This finally finished with the installation of a magnificent Jubilee Pipe Organ in 2000. Some of the stained glass windows were imported from Munich in Germany. Next to the cathedral is the Old St Stephan's Church which was the focus of catholic worship in Brisbane before the cathedral was built.
