The City Museum of Melbourne is in the Old Treasury Building on the eastern edge of the Melbourne CBD. The aim of the museum is to present the story of Melbourne and includes displays of historically significant objects, multimedia technology and contemporary art and craft, across a range of permanent and seasonal exhibitions. The City Museum also contains the hidden treasure of the Old Treasury Building's old gold vaults, which today houses the spectacular exhibition Built on Gold.
City Museum stand next to Parliament House and close to Treasury Gardens and Fitzroy Park. It is not to be confused with the Melbourne Museum
