St Paul's Cathedral High Altar - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
A panorama taken from the inside of St. Paul's Cathedral. This picture was taken near the high altar and shows more detail around the choir stalls and the back or the altar. The entrance appears a long way away, down the intricately tiled aisle.

St. Paul's Cathedral stands on the northern side of Federation Square in Melbourne. The current cathedral was consecrated in 1891, and the spires built in the 1920's.
In this panorama you can see the Reredos. It is made of Devonshire marble (from Devon in England), alabaster and glass mosaics. Above the central Cross are scenes of Jesus' Last Supper with his friends and his death by crucifixion.
To the right is the Macartney Chapel, named after the first Dean of St. Paul's and to the left is the Chapel of the Ascension which features more beautiful reredos made of glass mosaics, portraying the ascension of the risen Jesus.
