Soldiers Point - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
A panorama taken from the northern end of Soldiers Point, the northernmost point on Tomaree Peninsula. This picture was taken from the sea wall at the very end of Soldiers Point, with pelicans resting nearby. From here there is a good panoramic view over Port Stephens.
Soldiers Point - FURTHER INFORMATION
Soldiers Point - Port Stephens visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Soldiers Point' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from New South Wales.
Soldiers Point is on the end of a small peninsula stretching north from the Tomaree Peninsula in Port Stephens, New South Wales. This is the northernmost settlement on the peninsula, and a very popular tourist and holiday destination, not too far from Nelson Bay. It is believed to be named after the Corporal's Guard once stationed there and was previously called Friendship Point.
The settlement on Soldiers Point is relaxed and gentle. On Soldiers Point is a small marina and on either side are several sandy beaches, including Sunset Beach and Wanda Beach. There are numerous hotels, motels and other holiday accomodation for tourists, including Soldiers Point Holiday Park, but the town is not as busy or crowded as Nelson Bay. Visitors staying in Soldiers Point are close enough to the popular beaches in Port Stephens without being over crowded. It also allows fairly easy access to the wine tasting and vineyards of the Hunter Valley.
TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
