The Adelaide Botanic Gardens are just beyond the northeast corner of the Adelaide CBD. Covering 125 acres, the gardens opened in 1857, and the design is influenced by both Kew Gardens in London and the royal gardens of Versailles in France. The gardens are bounded to the north by the Torrens River and stand next to Adelaide Zoo. Entrance to the gardens is free, but entrance to the Bicentennial Tropical Conservatory is ticketed.
Highlights of the Adelaide Botanic Gardens include the Palm House, a rose garden and the Bicentennial conservatory.
