Albert Bridge links central Adelaide to North Adelaide via Frome Road. On the south side of the river is the Zoological Gardens, while on the northern side is the University Oval and Park Lands. The next bridge to the west is Adelaide Bridge.
The River Torrens is the most important river of the Adelaide Plains and influential in the founding of Adelaide. The headwaters are in the Adelaide Hills near Mount Pleasant, and the mouth is at Henley Beach on Gulf St. Vincent. The river plays an important part in the water supply to Adelaide, and flows through numerous parks and the Torrens Lake, which are popular tourist attractions.
