The Wüstenhaus (Desert Experience House) at Schönbrunn contains desert plants and landscapes in the former Sundial House. It was built in 1904 for Emperor Franz Joseph I to winter his collection of plants from the Dutch territories in Australia and Africa. At the end of the 1900's it was renovated and converted to hold a collection of desert plants.
The Wüstenhaus is at the far west of the Schlosspark, near to the Palm House and close to the Hietzinger Tor (Hietzinger Gate) entrance to the park. Entrance to the Wüstenhaus is ticketed
