Canterbury is an historic city in Kent in the southeast of England, probably most famous today for the Canterbury Cathedral, the seat of the Church of England. The city lies on the Stour River, inhabited by the Celts and known as 'Durovernum Cantiacorum' by the Romans. Some of the Roman remains are still visible today. Thousands of people come to Canterbury to visit the historic sites, explore the ancient streets and see the Cathedral.
