Navy Museum in Devonport - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
This panorama was taken inside the Navy Museum at Devonport and shows some of the exhibits on show. Thought space is cramped, every last inch if it is used, packed with artifacts related to New Zealand's naval history and achievements.

The Navy Museum is next to Devonport Naval Base at the far end of the Queen Parade along the sea front of Devonport. The museum has both permanent and temporary exhibitions that cover all aspects of naval warfare and development from the 1800's through to the present day. The collection includes artifacts from ships, medals, photographs, clothing and other memorabilia, making for a fascinating insight into the history of the New Zealand Navy.
Devonport has a rich naval history and was heavily fortified in the past against naval assault. Some of these fortifications still remain on the top of Mount Victoria and on North Head where one of the guns still remains in the South Battery.
