St Columba's Chapel is one of the Chapels of the Seven Tongues behind the altar of the Cathedral Church of St John the Divine in New York. This chapel is at the extreme eastern end of the cathedral, between St Savior's Chapel and St Martin's Chapel. It is linked to these by small wooden doors set into the walls.St. Columba's chapel was the first chapel of the cathedral, built in 1904 by Heins and Lafarge, the original Cathedral architects. The theme of this Gothic chapel are the Christian communities of the East, and many of the figures within the window represent Eastern doctors and saints. The chapel also contains a shrine to saints Philip, George, Teklehaimanot, and Frumentius, all from Africa. Two Buddhist temple cabinets, given to the Cathedral in 1930 by the King of Siam, represent Christianity in Asia.
The main theme of the stained glass window is the Transfiguration of Christ. This forms a backdrop for the high altar of the Cathedral and is visible from the other end of the nave. On the chapel's altar is a three panel altar piece crafted by the Keith Haring. Twenty angel carvings flank the entrance to the chapel. These representing the heavenly choir, the work of Gutzon Borglum (best known for the Mt. Rushmore presidential faces).
