Cable Car Lookout - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
This panorama shows the panoramic view over Wellington from the lookout station at the top of the cable car to the Botanic Gardens. One of the famous, red cable cars is just coming to the top in the picture, and someone is using the pay-to-view binoculars to look out over Wellington Harbour.

Cable Car Lookout - Wellington visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Cable Car Lookout' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Wellington Region.
One of the most popular ways to get to the Botanic Gardens in Wellington is via the cable car from Cable Car Lane. This negates the need to walk up the hill, and visitors arrive to spectacular views over the city and Wellington Harbour. From here it is easy to see how hilly the surrounding terrain really is. The station is to the right of the viewing platform, and a short distance away is the Wellington Cable Car Museum and shop. Nearby maps guide visitors around the rest of the gardens. The Carter Observatory is another good place within the gardens to get a view over the city.
TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
By cable car from Cable Car Lane, through the historic Bolton Street Memorial Park or via the lower entrance on Glenmore Street.
