The Archdiocesan Catholic Centre in Wellington is just to the north of the Parliament Buildings and next to the Cathedral of St Paul. It is the seat of the Archdiocese of Wellington and the principle Roman Catholic centre in New Zealand. The Archdioceses of Wellington was created in 1848 by Pope Pius IX, overseeing church business in the region. The centre contains a seminary, offices and churches. It is fully known as the Archdiocese of Wellington Aotearoa New Zealand.
