Sculpture Square Behind the Beehive - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
Behind the Beehive is a small garden with some unusual abstract sculptures. These keep in line with the unusual shape of the Beehive building itself, which rises in conical form to the east of the gardens. Three large sculptures are visible in this image, surrounded by office and governmental buildings. Not many people walk back here, so the gardens are quite peaceful.

Directly behind the New Zealand Parliament Buildings in Wellington is a square in which stand three abstract sculptures. A plaque within the square explains the forms that are there, but it is more interesting for visitors to come up with their own interpretation. There have, in the past, been plans to move the Beehive here and extend the southern wing of the Parliamentary Building according to the original plans, or to use the space as a car park. Most local people hope that neither are pursued.
TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
