Walsh Bay lies between Darling Harbour and Campbells Cove, next to the Sydney Harbour Bridge in Sydney. One of the wharfs has been converted into the Sydney Theatre, home of the Sydney Theatre Company. Walsh Bay is bounded to the east by Dawes Point, and to the west by Millers Point.
Much of the rest of Walsh Bay has been developed into luxury accomodation, with numerous restaurants, bars and caffes to cater for the residents. The origins of Walsh Bay dates back to the early 1900's when the wharfs were built to serve shipping. Wharfs 1 and 1/5 were restored and re-developed as shops, restaurants and theatres in the 1980s. Whars 8 and 9 are now hotels, the docks have been converted into a promenade to meet modern demands of Sydney. The Sebel Pier One luxury hotel occupies a wharf right under the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
