Telstra Dome Promenade - FURTHER INFORMATION
Telstra Dome Promenade - Melbourne visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Telstra Dome Promenade' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Victoria.
The Telstra Dome stands on the western side of the business district in Melbourne. Previously known as Victoria Stadium, and also as the Docklands Stadium, the Telstra Stadium is home ground of Essendon Bombers, St. Kilda Saints, Western Bulldogs, North Melbourne and Carlton Blues. The dome is named after the Trelstra telecommunications stadium, who brought the naming rights from Colonial State Bank in 2002. Most locals simply refer to it as 'The Dome', and this name is encouraged by the rival telecommunications companies that sponsor a number of teams that have played here in the past.
The view from the raised walkway on the west side of the Telstra Dome looks out over the new developments on a number of the wharfs and piers of Melbourne Harbour. This has significantly changed in recent years, being converted from a working port to a fashionable residential area with marinas, expensive restaurants, shops and hotels. A new Melbourne wheel, similar to the London Eye, is being built nearby to the north.
