Stadtpark Lake - FURTHER INFORMATION
Stadtpark Lake - Vienna visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Stadtpark Lake' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Wien.
The Stadtpark was the first public park established in Vienna. The park was proposed during the construction of the Ringstrasse in place of the old city walls. The layout, by Josef Selleny, followed that of an English park. The gates to Stadtpark first opened in 1862.
The Wienfluss (Vienna River) flows through the Stadtpark and a number of monuments and buildings may be found within it. These include a bronze monument to Johann Strauß II, and the Kursalon hall which still holds balls in the honour of the composer. Other statues and monuments include those in honour of Franz Schubert, Franz Lehár, Robert Stolz and Hans Makart.
