The Franciscan Church (Slovak: Kostol františkánov or Františkánsky kostol) is one of the oldest churches in Bratislava. It stands on Frantiskanske namestie, just up the road from the Jesuit Church, close to Hlavne nam in the Old Town.
The church was built between 1280 and 1297 by King Andrew III. In the 17C it was redeveloped as a Renaissance building, being remodeled again in the 18C as a Baroque church. There are two 14C chapels adjoing the church. The St. John the Evangelist Chapel is modeled after the Sainte Chapelle in Paris and contains a crypt of the family of Jakub, an important mayor.
