nam SNP is a square to the north of the Old Town of Bratislava. It is a triangular square of which two sides have been pedestrianised. In the summer the square becomes one large outdoor cafe, as tables and chairs from the surrounding restaurants spill out. In the middle of the square are very Communist Russian style statues of workers. This monument is dedicated to the Slovak National Uprising and its heroes. In November 1989 it drew vast crowds in the months leading up to the fall of communism. There are two churches on the edges of the square and numerous trams and buses stop here. A number of hotels are also found nearby.
