Suche myto (Suché mýto) was one of the 5 gates in the outer wall of medieval defenses in Bratislava. The city had both inner and outer walls. The original fortifications of the city started in the 14C with the construction of a wall around the Old Town accessed initially via 3 gates, Michael's Gate (north), Vydrica Gate (west) and Laurinc Gate (east). A small Fisherman's Gate was later added leading to the River Danube. During the 16C, threat of attack from the Turks lead to the building of an outer wall with five gates, of which Suché mýto was one.
In 1775, Maria Theresa of Austria authorised the demolition of the inner wall, which was restricting city growth. This contniued thorugh 1778 as the gates and walls were pulled down and moats filled in. The outer walls of Bratislava lasted until the 19C. The only gate left standing is Michael's Gate, now a tourist attraction with a small museum about the city defenses, part of the Slovak National Museum
