Charlton in Victoria state is service town in the rural Avoca River area. It is around 245Km northwest of Melbourne, near to the towns of Horsham, Bendigo, Echuca, Boort and Nhill in Wimmera. It lies to the north east of the Grampians National Park.
The town is notable for its involvement supporting the agricultural industries in the farmland and holdings throughout the surrounding area. It stores grain before it is transported to other regions for processing. Charlton's silos also supply grain for planting on the arable farmsteads and feed for the livestock of the beef and dairy industries. Visitors can explore the history of the town's agricultural evolution at the Grain Museum and also learn about its long heritage and association with Aboriginal culture. Around the town you can enjoy visiting the nearby lakes for swimming and fishing.
