Devin Castle (hrad Devín / Devínsky hrad) is a ruined castle and museum 13km west of Bratislava. This picture shows the view from the top of the castle over the small, picturesque village of Devin (Devín) nearby. Sadly, the bus for the castle terminates at the castle car park, and as a result this village sees little economic benefit from the tourists who pass through. This does have the advantage of leaving it relatively unspoilt for those who make the effort to walk to it. From the top of Devin Castle it is possible to see all the way into both Austria and, on a good day, Hungary. An excellent viewpoint at Devin Castle is at the top of the tower shown in this image to the left of the village and hill.
