St Arnaud - FURTHER INFORMATION
St Arnaud - St Arnaud visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'St Arnaud' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Victoria.
St Arnaud was one of many gold mining towns founded during the Gold Rush of 1850. Situated on the main route between Ballarat and Mildura (B-220 road) near the Grampians National Park, north west of Melbourne.
This sizable service town is notable for the many well-preserved historic buildings such as the Town Hall which line the main Napier Street. All along the street are pubs, shops and post-supported verandas which are reminiscent of the architecture styled in the early days of colonisation. Pioneer Park and the Queen Mary Botanic Gardens, Market Square gardens and Lord Nelson Park are just some of the public parks and gardens open to visitors. Nearby, towards the town of Avoca, is the St Arnaud Range National Park - a steep and forested landscape used for recreation and sight-seeing, with accommodation on camp sites.
