Lyttelton Marina - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
Panorama taken from one of the jetties at the Lyttelton Marina on an overcast day, with the cloud hanging low over Lyttelton Harbour. The marina is, sadly, run down and there are few boats or yachts moored here. However, the views over the harbour from here are great.
Lyttelton Marina - FURTHER INFORMATION

Lyttelton Marina is on the outskirts of Lyttelton, near the Banks Peninsula. The history of the marina has been chequered whith redevelopment promises and plans coming and going. Current plans from Covington Group, based in Auckland, are for the development of a 400 berth marina with a 150 boat capacity Drystacker. The project also include 200 luxury apartments, hotels, restaurants, shops and more, all designed to world class standards. Such a project would undoubtedly transform this section of Lyttelton Harbour and have an enormous effect on the entire region.
If the plans come to fruition, then Christchurch will be graced with a world class marina set in stunning surroundings, protected from the open ocean with excellent sailing and boating prospects. This will no doubt boost the local economy and tourism, providing the impact on the environment is properly managed.
