Corsair Bay Headland - FURTHER INFORMATION
Corsair Bay Headland - Banks Peninsula visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Corsair Bay Headland' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Canterbury.
The road from Lyttelton winds tightly round numerous coves and headlands on the way to Governors Bay and the Banks Peninsula. Just past the Lyttelton Marina the road curves round Corsair Bay and then Cass Bay. Between the two is this lay by with a panoramic view point over Lyttelton Harbour. The picture shows Otamahua Island to the south, with Charteris Bay and Diamond Head to the left of it.
Within both Corsair Bay and Cass Bay are small beaches (the beach at Corsair Bay has a public car park). Both also contain some Bed & Breakfast (B&B) or other forms of holiday accomodation for those wishing to stay near, but not in, the busier hotels elsewhere. Governors Bay Road continues to wind round passing through the small settlement of Rapaki before arriving at Governors Bay.
