Punting on the Avon in Christchurch offers visitors punting excursions via either hired punts or guided punting tours. This is a very relaxing way to see Christchurch from the Avon River and is quite popular with tourists. Punting on the Avon has two punting stations -

• City Punting Station - from next to Worcester Boulevard Bridge, next to the Canterbury Provincial Buildings and a short distance from Cathedral Square.
• Park Punting Station - from the historic Antigua Boat Sheds, 2 Cambridge Terrace. The boat shed is a well known Christchurch landmark, just 5 minutes walk from the entrance to the Botanic Gardens and Christchurch Arts Centre.

Punting on the Avon operates 10 purpose built guiding punts, each built to traditional Cambridge (UK) style out of local materials in New Zealand and operated by a trained guide.
