The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) in Hong Kong stands overlooking Victoria Harbour from Wan Chai North on Hong Kong Island. As the name suggests, this is the foremost convention, exhibition and conference centre in Hong Kong. It opened in 1988, allowing Hong Kong to rapidly establish itself as the premier trade fair destination in Asia.

In 1997 the HKCEC expanded and another phase of development is due to finish in 2009, whereupon the HKCEC will contain some 83,000 sq m of exhibition space and 90,000 sq m or rentable function area. Each year the HKCEC hosts over 45 international trade fares and exhibitions. The HKCEC also held the Hong Kong handover ceremony, which signified the end of British colonial rule as Hong Kong was handed back to China in 1997.

Much of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre is built on reclaimed land with prime views over Victoria Harbour on Hong Kong Island. A public walkway runs around the harbour side of the building offering panoramic views over the harbour. On the other side, in this image, it is possible to make out the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.
