South Head - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
Panorama over Sydney Harbour from Middle Head, part of South Head. The panorama was taken on a bright, sunny day, with a cloud bank over North Heaad on the oposite side of the harbour. A pleasure cruise boat can be seen in the clear blue waters below, it has raised solar panels attached, looking like raised wings.
South Head - FURTHER INFORMATION
South Head - Sydney visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'South Head' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from New South Wales.
South Head is one of the numerous headlands that stretch into Port Jackson (Sydney Harbour) from Sydney. South Head is home to HMAS Watson, and there is a public footpath which allows access around the cliff tops and the headland. The Hornby Lighthouse, one of the oldest lighthouse in Australia, stands here looking out to sea. From here the coastline heads south towards Diamond Bay and Bondi Beach. To the west lies the inner parts of Sydney Harbour and all the famous landmarks.
Leisure cruise ships often pass under the spectacular cliffs of South Head, stopping sometimes at either Lady Bay or Camp Cove on the way. Both of these have sandy beaches. From here it is possible to see over to North Head and part of the coastline around Manly on a clear day.
