Akaroa is a small town and very popular tourist destination on the Banks Peninsula , about 85km from Christchurch. For visitors there are numerous sea-based activities which include harbour tours, sailing, boating, fishing, dolphin spotting, sea kayaking and more. Akaroa has a public slipway allowing launch of day boats. It is close to the Akaroa Cricket Club on the outskirts of the town. There are numerous other small villages dotted around the shoreline the south facing inlet on the Banks Peninsula that forms Akaroa Harbour.
TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
Akaroa is about 85km from Christchurch. The H75 runs from Christchurch along the Banks Peninsula to Akaroa. The journey takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes.
