Kowloon Park - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
Panorama taken from Kowloon Park in Hong Kong. This panorama shows the large fountain at the southern end of the park. It was early in the day, and the low sun produced a small rainbow, visible near the lower end of the fountain. Though right next to Nathan Road, the park offers space to get away from the traffic and people, and is a popular place to some nature in the midst of the high rise buildings of Hong Kong.
Kowloon Park - FURTHER INFORMATION
Kowloon Park - Hong Kong visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Kowloon Park' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Hong Kong.
Kowloon Park is one of the main public parks in Hong Kong. The current park opened in 1970 after the redevelopment of the Whitfield Barracks, an army base manned by the English with a good view over Victoria Harbour. Today much of this view is obscured by the high rise office blocks, appartments and hotels of Hong Kong. In 1989 Kowloon Park was again refurbished to provide Tsim Sha Tsui with the park it has today, right next to Nathan Road, one of the most famous shopping streets in Hong Kong.
Kowloon Park contains numerous attractions beside the huge fountain seen in this panorama. Several of the old army barrack buildings have been adapted fro other uses. Among these are the Hong Kong Museum of History in Block S58, the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre in blocks S61 and S62, which are now classified as historical buildings, and the Health Education Exhibition and Resources Centre is in Block S4.
Aside from this, the park has tree walk that will guide you past over 30 different types of tress and some Stonewall Trees, a sculpture park, ponds, aviaries and other attractions. The tourist map available of Kowloon Park from the tourist office shows over 30 different attractions in the park.
