Kerang in northern Victoria state is a rural service town. Here on Wellington Street are found some of the amenities such as shops, hotels and accommodations. The Memorial Clock was erected to honour the memory of Karlie macDonald, a school teacher who died trying to save the life of one of her students who was in difficulty in the Loddon River. Kerang Court House is nearby on Victoria Street, another notable landmark and example of traditional early architecture with a decorative balcony and veranda.
Kerang is notable for the abundance of outdoor activities available in the area. Excellent walking and hiking trails around the lagoons and marshes take in wildlife watching and bird-spotting opportunities. The Avoca Marshes, the Malle and the Reedy Lakes are listed amongst the attractions this town has to offer visitors.
