In good weather at the height of the summer, the grassy area next to the quay is full of people. The panorama also shows the numerous boats at anchor in the river, which is often also full of ducks, geese and swans.

Christchurch Quay is one of the focal points of Chirstchurch in Dorset. Here, especially in the summer months, thousands of people stroll along the banks of the River Avon, feeding the swans and geese, and watching the yachts and boats on the water.

Christchurch Quay is very close to the town center and the Christchurch Priory. On one branch of the river (which splits into two branches as it winds through Christchurch) is a walled garden with a sculpture celebrating the 900th anniversary of the Priory.

From here the river continues out into Christchurch Harbour, which empties into the Solent via a small gap between Hengistbury Head and Mudeford Quay.

Christchurch Quay has a carpark at Quay Road in Christchurch. Alternatively follow the path along the River Avon from near the Bowling Green.
