Kings Street Bridge is a vital traffic link across the Yarra River in Melbourne. This traffic bridge stands between Spencer Street Bridge and Queens Bridge at the western end of central Melbourne. On the northern side, Kings Street passes the Melbourne Aquarium and Batman Park and Heliport. On the southern bank the road enters a tunnel beneath the Crown Entertainment Complex which contains a casino and cinema.
Kings Street Bridge is fairly new, opening in 1961. One of the spans collapsed in 1962 due to a brittle fracture caused by extreme cold when a 47 tonne truck passed over. The Crown Entertainment Complex was built around the bridge in later years, and now ramps connect the Kings Bridge to a car park beneath the Crown Casino.
