Torre - meaning Tower - is the highest mountain in mainland Portugal and is found in Serra da Estrela National Park south west of Guarda in Beira region.
In winter this is a popular ski resort and has a cable-car ski-lift, restaurant and shops. The main resort is based around Loriga town. In summer, these pastures are home to the dairy cattle from whose milk is made the famous Serra da Estrela Cheese. The summit of Torre is 1993 meters high, 6540 ft, and is marked with a monument.
