Wat Pho Reclining Buddha from Head - FURTHER INFORMATION
Wat Pho Reclining Buddha from Head - Bangkok visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Wat Pho Reclining Buddha from Head' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Central Thailand.
The Reclining Buddha image at Wat Pho (Thai: วัดโพธิ์) is indeed massive. It is over 50m long and fills the temple built to house it. There is very little room to stand back and it is almost impossible to for any photograph to show the full size of the statue.
This image was taken at the head end looking down the length of the statue. Even with a 10mm wide angle lens it was not possible to capture the full head of the Reclining Buddha. Further images were taken from part way down the body and from the feet (which are decorated with Mother-of-Pearl).
For more information about the history and other things to see at Wat Pho besides the Reclining Buddha, please see the information on the image taken from the compound of Wat Pho. Thais refer to Wat Pho as Wat Phra Chetuphon (Thai: วัดพระเชตุพน)
